please pop over here to our new blog, and don't forget to click to subscribe to our posts whilst you are there.

Little Mary Moo's Place

Little Mary Moo's purses and bags are made with such beautiful fabrics, most of which are hand printed and sourced in Australia. The purses are lined and extremely well made. They are the perfect size for makeup, hairbands, and all those other little things that seem to float around handbags! I had the pleasure of being next to Therese the creative soul behind Little Mary Moo last December at the BrisStyle Christmas market and was witness to how popular these little purses were as gifts. So to snap one up for yourself or someone special head to the Little Mary Moo etsy shop!

It's official..... our new marketplace has arrived!

"A unique shopping experience featuring some of the best local talent in art, craft and design located in one of Brisbane's premier riverfront dining and shopping precincts!"

The Boutique Markets (formerly known as the Designers Emporium) has recently found a new home at Portside Wharf in Hamilton, Brisbane. Since its inception in 2007 our market has grown in profile and size to become a hub of local creative talent which offers a unique shopping experience; boutique shopping in a market atmosphere. Our expanded market will now be located in the exclusive riverfront shopping and dining precinct of Portside on the second Sunday of each month, between 8am and 1pm.

Proudly supporting local independent design and craft, our market will host the work of more than fifty South East QLD -based stallholders including artists, designers, stylists, crafters and artisans. The market aims to promote and cultivate emerging local talent by offering a forum to promote and sell their work to the public.

This in turn offers design savvy shoppers unique access to high quality handmade and limited edition products not available elsewhere, direct from the region's thriving art and design community. As a locality Portside offers a great day out with an array of waterfront eateries, bars, cinemas, fresh food markets and retail shopping in addition to a first class international cruise terminal. The Boutique Markets offers a perfect compliment to the venue; it creates a festival style ambiance in the outdoor plaza. Spend the day meandering between stalls and stroll the waterfront promenade before enjoying lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafes.

The new Boutique Markets website and our new blog offers a portal to keep up to date on market events or to discover the stallholders which will be featured there. Be first in the know by signing up to our newsletter and stay tuned for some exciting special events and attractions which will coincide with the market day in coming months!

Interested in applying to retail - be quick, spaces are limited.

Our own home town

Another week has flown by! For those who follow my blog I'm sorry to repeat some of these images, but as I'm heading out to drive to the Gold Coast today, it got me to thinking about how diverse and beautiful our own town of Brissy really is!

A couple of months ago I took these while having a coffee at a cafe in Woolloongabba.
It's like a little dead end which could be anywhere in the world, but yet so essentially Brisbane with empty car parks and the sticky weather pushing us inside rather than
out in the western sun.

I love our little town that is growing up and always has something to
surprise and inspire me with.

Until next week, Taryn.

RE-read designs..

...Turning Tales into art....

I've been a fan of RE-read designs since I first came across Hayley and her gorgeous brooches last year at the 'Southbank Young Designers Market' and the 'BrisStyle Market'. Hayley uses old children's books and resin to create sweet one-off brooches with quirky text. Her line of products is constantly increasing and now includes bookmarks, pendants, studs and sweet, sweet buttons. I own a bird brooch as well as a rabbit and always receive compliments when I wear them which secretly makes me want to add to my collection. (I think the deer might be next!) Head to the Re-read etsy store to treat yourself or over to the blog where you could win your very own bunny brooch.

a special thanks.....
